Some Thoughts I Scribbled Down Yesterday

Just because I think I've made the right decision *for me* ... doesn't mean I've made the right decision. "Right for me" isn't necessarily what's right, or best. "Right for me" could even be foolish or even immoral or otherwise detrimental. "Right for me" myopically risks missing the bigger picture, the long-term consequences, the people affected.

Still, it seems that "right for me" is all that matters for a lot of people. "My truth," etc.

"My truth" is a lie.

The Reading Challenge

  I'm in. I'm going to try the " Back to the Classics Challenge " for 2021. This will be the first time in a while that I've done a "prescribed" challenge, and I'm looking forward to diving in and reading some books I've always wanted to read. A Short Rant on Bible Reading

Lately it seems I'm seeing a lot (tweets, articles, etc.) about Bible reading and biblical literacy. I haven't added to the conversation because I am a theological nobody, a lurker on various blogs who is relatively new to Twitter and has few followers. On top of that, I'm a relatively new Christian, though not new to Christianity. But I've been a little surprised at how many Christians are saying they rarely read the Bible, or that they read it in phases (every day for a month, then a few months of not opening it). And many have read only bits and pieces. I would expect this from someone who isn't a Christian, but these are Christians saying this. I honestly don't get this. Maybe I will once I have more years of being a Christian behind me. But I can't get enough of the Bible. It's all I want to read. I get up at 5:00 every morning, sometimes earlier, so I can read the Bible. I gave my life to Jesus last October and immediately began reading through the...

Loneliness and This Blog

I have so much to write, dear friends, and this Challies article prompted me to post today. I have been thinking about this blog and what I want it to be. Currently, nobody that I know personally is aware of this blog. I've never shared it with anyone. And I like the idea of writing anonymously. When I was younger, I dreamed of being famous -- for what, I wasn't sure. I just wanted to be famous. Now? Whew! I never achieved fame, and boy am I glad. I like my relative anonymity. So, why am I writing here? Want to know the #1 reason that came to my mind? Okay. I'm lonely. I have friends, but no close friends. I still treasure my close friends of the past, but none of them live near me. It's all Facebook and the occasional text or email.
